V.A. - Motown Salutes Bacharach (2002)

Компиляция "Motown Salutes Bacharach" это дань уважения артистов легендарного лейбла Motown, легендарному же композитору, подарившему им/нам/вам огромное количество хитов и, как следствие, хорошее настроение.. "и заряд бодрости на весь день" :)) И как не старались отдельные исполнители, повинуясь законам стиля, исказить изначальную мелодию многочисленными вариациями, все равно получилось хорошо. Особо, на мой взгляд, отличились Стиви Уандер с Alfie, исполненной на хроматической гармошке, и знаменитый американский радио-ведущий и диск-жокей Tom Clay, ремикс которого, сведенный в 71-м году из песен Барта Бахараха и Дика Холлера (What the World Needs Now Is Love и Abraham, Martin and John) и популярных записей касающихся Мартина Лютера Кинга, Джона и Боба Кеннеди, был включен в компиляцию.

В связи с тем что был упомянут Дик Холлер и его знаменитая песня следующий пост будет посвящен исполнителю по имени Dion.

It makes sense that this compilation inevitably had to happen. There are just so many renditions of legendary songwriter/arranger/composer/overlord Burt Bacharach's songs within the Motown catalog that someone at Universal (Motown's parent company) finally had the good sense to amass them for another volume in their long-running reissue series. It also shows how much respect and admiration the Motown camp had for Bacharach, entrusting a large portion of the A-list artists in their juggernaut arsenal to his style and sensibility. And much to their credit, the Motown artists take on Bacharach with full gusto. Motown Salutes Bacharach is the perfect fusion of Motown sensibility and soul with Bacharach's suave, sophisticated grace. Starting off easy with Gladys Knight's "The Look of Love," the compilation takes on the songbook without compromising either side's style. And while the majority of the compositions represented here are from Bacharach's slower standards, the results are overwhelmingly beautiful at times, most notably when Stevie Wonder goes to bat with "Alfie." And while most of these songs never placed high in the pop charts, it is an essential document for Bacharach fanatics, for Motown junkies, or just simply for the casual listener who wants to hear good music done extremely well.

V.A. - With Love, A Pot Of Flowers (1967)

Думаю уже по обложке можно догадаться, какого рода музыка включена в компиляшку. Цветочные горшки нам "как бы намекают" что это сайк-поповая сборка. Однако не тут-то было. Группы-то оказывается совершенно разные (от фолка до гаража) и сайк-поповых из них ровным счетом ни одной. Вот и доверяй после этого людям. Того и гляди наткнешься на сайк-поп под обложкой с хайрастыми, брутальными гитаристами на фоне адских сполохов..

Оригинальная сборка была издана в 1967 году, в надежде поднять денежку на волне ,набирающего высоту, движения хиппи и тем самым поправить свое материальное положение, подорванное изданием нерентабельных сольных пластинок групп. Результатом такой сугубо меркантильной затеи стала элпишка, дающая одну из наиболее точных картин музыкальной сцены тех времен.

With Love - A Pot Of Flowers was originally issued in 1967 by Mainstream Records ostensibly to cash-in upon the growing fascination with San Francisco. In 1966, label boss Bob Shad had issued several unsuccessful singles by Bay Area groups, and by collecting them together on LP he unwittingly created one of the more satisfying surveys of the scene at the time.
The groups included on A Pot Of Flowers were the Wildflower, pioneering folk-rockers who were an early fixture at the Fillmore and Avalon; San Jose's popular garage band the Otherside; legendary East Bay punks the Harbinger Complex; and, from southern California, the idiosyncratic Euphoria, whose off-beat take on psychedelia has given the group a cult reputation.

V.A.- Where The Action Is! Los Angeles Nuggets 1965-1968

Компиляшка от, широкоизвестного любителям шестидесятины, лейбла Рино(Rhino). 100 песен, и еще одна, из славного города Лос-Анджелеса расфасованы по четырем дискам по такому принципу: 1)Популярные всем известные банды выступавшие в самых крутых клубах города ангелов. 2)Банды чуть менее известные из северных и восточных окраин города. 3)Включает в себя студийные проекты. 4)Кантри, фолк, псих-фолк и всяческие маргиналии зараждающейся психоделической эры.

В целом все четрыре диска содержат довольно таки популярный материал, по крайней мере я для себя глобальных открытий не сделал.. но всё ж встречаются и малоизвестные имена. Оценивать бок сет не буду.. смотрите сами, читайте названия команд.. я думаю они говорят сами за себя :)

Да кстати я решил перейти на шариби потому что рапида внатуре беса гонит, но всё ж в дальнейшем наверное буду дублировать ещё и рапидными ссылками во избежание удаления архивов. Кроме того с нынешнего поста буду давать несколько строк на английском из официальных пресс-релизов для гаражнопсиходеличных товарищей из цивилизованных стран, не понимающих нашего варварского языка.

WHERE THE ACTION IS! encompasses four discs arranged thematically to cover different aspects of the pop, rock, club and Top 40 sounds of the era. The first covers some of the most notable bands that performed in the clubs of Hollywood's Sunset Strip. Disc two features a sampling of the musicians who began life in South L.A., East L.A. and such far-flung suburbs as Riverside and Bakersfield. The third delves into the artistry of L.A.'s producers, arrangers and Wrecking Crew of studio players. The final disc takes us from the nascent seeds of folk rock to the first blooms of canyon rock, country rock and full-blown psychedelia in the region. V.A. - Biit Piraadid - vol.2 (Estonian Big Beat)

В начале года я выкладывал первую часть сборки, включающую в себя студийные записи, эстонских гаражно-битовых банд. И вот в сегодняшней френдленте увидел что товарищ Морозов выложил оную часть и попросил имеющих поделиться второй частью, которая содержит концертные записи всё тех же групп.
И так как у тов. islandhippie первая часть архива битая, а у тов. Dmitrich'a
по ссылке и по сей день вместо второй лежит первая часть, то собственно вот...делюсь.
Музыка скачана из суслика коврики взяты у вышеупомянутого Dmitrich'a.

На поверку эта часть оказалось несравненно круче первой и по подборке материала(в основном каверы), и по саунду(хотя это, конечно, кому как нравится) и ващеее :)

особое внимание прошу обратить на 6 трек (Очи Чёрные) и 17 (Смешно :))

V.A.- Now Hear This! Garage & Beat From the Norman Petty Vaults

Жил да был на свете продюсер Norman Petty ,который не гнушался записывать каждого кто приходил в его студию, имея за душой всего навсего две три песни.. зато какие это были песни! Какое множество бездарных альбомов я променял бы на некоторые перлы из этой компиляшки!
Долгое время, в процессе познания любимой музыки, я отдавал предпочтение альбомам, пренебрегая компиляциями, укомплектованными в основном синглами групп однодневок. И вобщем-то считаю что был прав в этом :) но однако время шло и по настоящему хорошие альбомы стали встречаться всё реже и реже.. И вот недавно я, ограниченный рамками стилистических предпочтений, пришел к выводу что эра альбомов уходит, ибо нет надежды на то что, в скором времени, в массовом порядке, всевозможные группы начнут записывать отличный гараж, псих и уж тем паче псих-поп. И хоть далеко не всё ещё услышано по сабжу, но многое и, боюсь, лучшее я уже заслушал до дыр, пресытился сим (на данный момент) и жажду новых впечатлений, а посему в масштабах данного блога сей компиляцией открываю(для себя по крайней мере) эру синглов! аминь! :)))

По сабжу: довольно мелодичный гараж, ракенрол, рнб с вкраплениями психа. Крайне рекомендую. Сайт рекорд лейбла Нормана Питти. И в качестве доп.инфо: Норман Питти сотрудничал с Бадди Холли и является одним из трёх авторов хита "Peggy Sue".

Компиляция раритетного гаража и психа родом из штата Арканзас. Диск издан силами арканзасской же инициативной группы фанатиков и коллекционеров под кодовым именем "Psych of the South". Кстати если технически прошаренные правообладатели наткнутся на этот пост и кинут предъяву, то я конечно же незамедлительно удалю его. Так что спешите поиметь.
